Watch Out for Strange Downloads While You’re Surfing!
Earlier today, I was checking out some incoming links at one of my blogs and was reminded of the importance of having really good anti-virus protection.
When I hit the site in question with the incoming link to one of my blogs, my anti-virus protection kicked in and blocked an automatic download of a trojan. I hate it when people do this! And I hate sites/companies that engage in parasite marketing.
Fortunately, my anti-virus program, (Norton AV) did kick in and saved me a whole lot of grief. I then did a system scan to make doubly sure that there wasn’t any other garbage lurking around as a result and came up clean.
I personally like Norton AV, (that’s the anti-virus package, not the Internet security package; I don’t like that one) but my partner really loves his AVG Anti-virus from Grisoft.
So the takeaway lesson or the PSA for today is, make sure your computer wears protection when you’re out on the web. You never know what you’ll catch.
