The Greater Victoria Public Library Conspiracy

Great! I was going to go to the library here in Victoria to do some research this week on a few strange local things and once again, the Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) has decided to lock out the public and their hard working employees.

The GVPL which by the way, is one of the busiest library systems in Canada, seems totally bent on destroying literacy and research here in Victoria, BC.

I find it astounding that they’re so cheap that they won’t pay their employees a decent wage that is on par with the rest of the city workers. I’ve even heard that one of the so called reasons why they’re underpaid, is because they don’t work hard enough. Say what!? That’s a total crock of B.S.!

According to the GVPL board, they want to negotiate and resolve this problem… Yeah, so why hasn’t it been done already? This labour dispute has been going on for months.

In the meantime, the library board is punishing the public and their hard working employees.

Is this the end of public libraries in Victoria? I hope not, but things don’t look good.
