Clues to a Sequel for National Treasure 3?

When I watched ‘National Treasure - Book of Secrets’ recently I got the distinct impression that there were clues to another sequel.

I haven’t noticed any gossip on the web to that effect but perhaps I just haven’t come across it yet.

However, in the movie there were a number of references to a specific page in ‘The Presidents Book of Secrets’. I thought the page was page 41 but wikipedia mentions page 47. I guess I’ll have to wait for the DVD release before I know for sure.

Still, regardless of page, filmmakers don’t usually mention something like that and dwell on a detail like that unless they’re going to use it. Otherwise things like that end up on the cutting room floor as it were.

I was recently at one of the official sites (Disney has 2 for some reason) for National Treasure and I came across quite by chance a video clip labeled ‘The Money Pit’. Given that ‘The Money Pit’ or ‘The Oak Island Mystery’ hasn’t been dealt with yet in this series, I believe that it plays a big part in the probable next movie.

The Oak Island Mystery is actually kind of interesting and has been subject to all sorts of speculation as to what its purpose was.

The National Treasure filmmakers think that there’s Freemason ties to it, which is certainly one of the many theories.

I’ll have to do some more research on my theory about how or if this mystery ties in with another National Treasure movie.

Speaking of the The Oak Island Mystery, the Oak Island Tourism Society will be holding its Explore Oak Island Days this year on June 20th - 22nd 2008.
