No More Spam Comments

OK — that’s it — I’m tired of dealing with spam comments…

My Strange Blog is going on the 6 months mark this month and one of the things that I’ve decided to do to mark this date is to stop trying to filter out the spam comments.

99.999% of the comments I’ve received since starting this blog have been spam.

I don’t have this problem at any of my other blogs and I’ve been blogging at them for years now. The reason why I don’t have a problem is because I never enabled comments or trackbacks to them.

As of today, the same goes for this blog. No more comments or trackbacks — period.

Unfortunately that also means that I had to delete the few existing legit comments that were on this blog.

This experiment has taught me what I knew all along — namely that comments and trackbacks are a very over-rated function of blogging. They just confirmed it once again for me personally.

With a dozen or so websites and blogs I just don’t have the time to devote to being a ’spam fighter’. I’d rather do something productive… Like, research and write.

So there it is. I will continue to publish a quality strange blog; I just won’t be allowing comments or trackbacks at it.
