Torchwood Is Holding My Interest
After a long hard days work, I like to wind down in the evening by watching a movie or TV show on DVD. Often, its something that I can post about at one of my blogs. Such is the case with Torchwood.
Ever since Torchwood - The Complete First Season came out on DVD earlier this year, I’ve been meaning to check it out.
I finally managed to rent some episodes to sample during the last couple of weeks. So far, I’ve only watched about 5 or 6 episodes. And so far, I like it and its holding my interest.
Synopsis: Torchwood — a covert agency based in the UK that investigates extraterrestrial incidents on Earth and scavenges alien technology for its own use to solve crime-both alien and human. Separate from the government outside the police beyond the United Nations Torchwood sets its own rules. Led by the enigmatic, ever watchful Captain Jack Harkness the Torchwood team delves into the unknown and fights the impossible. Everyone who works for Torchwood is young. Some say that’s because it’s a new science. Others say it’s because they die young.
My Thoughts: In addition to investigating extraterrestrial incidents the Torchwood team also end up investigating creatures and beings from folklore, (faeries for instance) and also more ‘earthly monsters’. The episode with the town of cannibals being a prime example of the later category.
On the whole, I’m liking what I see so far. Its a dark drama of the Angel series type with more emphasis on alien type villians and high-tech wizardry.
