Ghosts & Legends of Bastion Square
I’ve been meaning to go on one of those Ghostly Walks that John Adams and his tour company do here in Victoria. Oddly enough, although I’ve lived in Victoria, most of my life I just haven’t got around to it. However, I did recently pick up a copy of his book, Ghosts & Legends of Bastion Square.
Growing up in Victoria, you soon find out that we have our fair share or perhaps more than fair share of ghosts and haunted places. There are various reasons why Victoria attracts ghosts and paranormal activity, which John outlines in his book, Ghosts & Legends of Bastion Square. Bastion Square itself, has a very interesting history and as John mentions throughout this book, there’s quite a lot of ghostly history connected to it.
Although, I do know many of the stories and legends that are in this book there were quite a number actually that I didn’t know about. Also, after reading his book, I now know why, certain buildings and places in the Bastion Square area have always made me feel uneasy.
Ghosts & Legends of Bastion Square is a slim book but it packs in a lot of fascinating history and stories. I found it a great little book and recommend it for anyone who’s interested in the history and legends of Victoria, British Columbia.
Ghosts & Legends of Bastion Square (ISBN 0-9731241-0-5) is available at local bookstores around Victoria and by the looks of it, directly from Discover the Past.
