The Shag Harbour Incident Festival actually takes place in August every year. Or rather, it has for the past couple of years. This year, the Canadian Government even pitched in with some grant funding. Link: The Government of Canada Supports Shag Harbour Incident Society. Link to: Shag Harbour Incident Society Museum
The quick synopsis of what this incident is about: On October 4th, 1967 an unidentified flying object was spotted in the skies above Shag Harbour which later crashed in nearby waters. It has been the subject of much investigation and speculation both during and after the event. A preliminary search of the area turned up nothing except a yellowish-brown foam floating on the surface. Theories and explanations have ranged all over, including of course a UFO or one of those Sea UFO things, and also Russian aircraft or a Russian submarine or even a spot of night fishing…
