All About Dracula
The legend of Dracula and the stories or theories about how Bram Stoker came up with the idea for Dracula (or who Dracula is based on) are the fodder of many a nightmare and speculation.
Recently at this site, I posted one recent theory: Was Dracula Really a Woman? And this is one I’m personally going to look into, if for no other reason than it sounds facinating.
According to legend though, Stoker’s Dracula was based on a 15th century Wallachian Prince called “Vlad the Impaler”. Vlad reigned in 1448, 1456–1462, and 1476 and was known for his cruel punishments against his enemies, such as, impaling them with a large stake and sticking them in the ground to die and then dipping his food in their blood, among other gruesome things.
I’ve gone and collected a number of excellent links on Dracula for you to find out more about Vlad and also Bram Stocker’s Dracula.
