Strange News for Tuesday

Tuesday’s terrific strange news includes: Area 51 Revelations, Words from Beldar, News from the World Wide Security State and more.

UFO Related:

- Beldar Conehead, Dan Aykroyd weighs in on the NJ UFO hoax. Beldar Dan was in Morris Plains on Thursday to promote his Crystal Head vodka…and talk UFOs. I’ve got to see if my local liquor store can get some of this stuff in.

- On a related and more serious note: Judge hits Morris County UFO hoaxers with fines, community service.

- This past week and continuing on into this week, Area 51 has been in the news. The first article I noticed about this, is the one from the LA Times: The Road to Area 51. I see that ABC News now has some printed coverage: UFOs? Aliens? Area 51 Revealed. And now, FoxNews has this video: Truth Is Out There. Interesting stuff, but if you think that these former Area 51 employees are allowed to talk about everything, or that they know everything that there is to know about Area 51, then you might not enjoy these articles and the video that much.

Other interesting interviews: Michio Kaku talks to the A.V. Club about physics, science fiction, inspiration, and what Martians might think of Britney Spears.

Paranormal: Modern ghost/spirit detector steeped in history.

World Wide Security State:

- In the UK: Police arrest 114 people in pre-emptive strike against environmental protesters.

- Also in the UK: Mistaken al-Qaida suspect tells of his shock at anti-terror arrest ordeal. Why was this student arrested? Because he’s a suspicious looking Pakistani…Or, in other words, the police can’t tell one Pakistani student from another…

- In the U.S.: Federal Authority Over the Internet? The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (worming its way through congress.)

- Also in the U.S.: Video Essay: American Citizen Jailed As Illegal Alien. (for seven months — they refused to believe him.)
